Division and Standards

  • Individual Elite/Rx

    The Elite Division is by qualification through one of the following:

    • The CanWest Games Online Qualifier
    • Invite through the CrossFit® Open (Top 20 Male/Female Canadians)
    • Fraser Valley Throwdown (Top Male/Female)
    • Via Invite

    The Rx Division is by qualification through:

    • The CanWest Online Qualifier

    These divisions showcases athletes with advanced skill levels in the sport of Functional Fitness. Professional athletes from around the world can be found in the Elite and Rx Division.

    Individual Elite/Rx Division Standards

    Note: The below are considered One Rep Max Lifts.

    Snatch (225lbs, 145lbs)
    Clean & Jerk (275lbs, 185lbs)
    Skill proficiency is good to great in: C2B Pull Ups, Muscle Ups, Handstand Push Ups, Handstand Walking, Double Unders & Toes to Bar.

  • Individual Intermediate/Scaled

    The Intermediate and Scaled is by qualification through the following:

    • The CanWest Games Online Qualifier
    • Fraser Valley Throwdown (Top Male/Female)
    • CanEast Games (Top Male/Female in this division)

    Those looking to compete at the CanWest Games in the Intermediate division need to be able to lift moderate loads, complete most gymnastic movements and be able to perform most workouts “Rx’d.”

    Athletes may register for the “Intermediate/Scaled” division during the online Qualifier. Each week when the workouts are released there will be an Intermediate version and a Scaled version. Athletes will have the option to complete the “scaled” version of the workout.

    By doing so, they will be ranked lower on the leaderboard than any athlete completing the Intermediate workout. They’ll be ineligible to qualify for Intermediate, but their score will remain in contention to qualify for the Scaled division at CanWest Games.

    Intermediate Division Standards

    Snatch (175lbs, 125lbs)
    Clean & Jerk (225lbs, 155lbs)
    Skill proficiency is moderate in: C2B Pull Ups,  Kipping Handstand Push Ups, Double Unders & Toes to Bar.

  • Individual Masters 35–39

    The Masters Age Group divisions have taken CanWest Games by storm in previous years. We have recognized the passion and dedication shown and we are committed to ensuring CanWest Games is a world class event for Masters Athletes. The Masters Age Group divisions are designed specifically for Masters Athletes, the Athletes who bring experience and heart to the competition floor.

    Individual Masters 35–39

    Athletes in the 35-39 Age Group will face similar workouts as the Individual Elite division during the Online Qualifier. Be prepared for heavy lifting and high skilled gymnastics movements. All athletes wishing to compete in this division will need to register and qualify through the following:

    • The Online Qualifier in the Masters 35-39 division.
    • The CrossFit® Open (Top 3 Male/Female Canadians this division)
    • Fraser Valley Throwdown (Top Male/Female)
    • CanEast Games (Top Male/Female in this division)

  • Individual Masters 60+

    Individual Masters 60+

    Athletes in the 60+ Age Group will face similar workouts as the Individual Elite division, however the movement volume and weight will be scaled appropriately. All athletes wishing to compete in this division will need to register and qualify through the following:

    • The CrossFit® Open (Top 3 Male/Female Canadians in this division)

  • Individual Teen 14-15

    The Teen division allows young athletes who are the future of our Sport, to showcase their abilities while gaining competitive experience.

    Individual Teen 14–15

    All athletes wishing to compete in the 14-15 division will need to qualify through the following:

    • The Online Qualifier in the Teen 14-15 division
    • The CrossFit® Open (Top 3 Male/Female Canadians in this division)
    • Fraser Valley Throwdown (Top Male/Female)
    • CanEast Games (Top Male/Female in this division)

    Be prepared for moderate lifting and gymnastics movements.

    Individual Teen 14–15 Division Standards

    Note: The below are considered One Rep Max Lifts.

    Snatch (125lbs, 95lbs)
    Clean & Jerk (155lbs, 115lbs)
    Skill proficiency is moderate in: C2B Pull Ups, Double Unders,  Handstand Push Ups, Handstand Walking & Toes to Bar. There is potential for Muscle Ups.

  • Individual Teen 16-17

    Individual Teen 16–17

    All athletes wishing to compete in the 16-17 division will need to qualify through the following:

    • The Online Qualifier in the Teen 16-17 division
    • The CrossFit® Open (Top 3 Male/Female Canadians in this division)
    • Fraser Valley Throwdown (Top Male/Female)
    • CanEast Games (Top Male/Female in this division)

    Be prepared for heavy lifting and high skilled gymnastics movements.

    Individual Teen 16–17 Division Standards

  • Team of 3 Elite/Rx

    The Elite and Rx team divisions are by qualification through the CanWest Games Online Qualifier. Those looking to compete at the CanWest Games in the Elite team division need to be able to lift heavy loads, complete high skilled gymnastic movements and be able to perform workouts “Rx’d.”

    Important Qualifier Notes for Teams of 3:

    •  You do not need to complete the workouts together
    • Your scores will combine to create the team score
    • You will need to designate a team captain to register your team and enter your scores
    •  Video submission will be required, please ensure each teammate films their workouts

    Elite/Rx Team Division Standards

  • Team of 3 Intermediate/Scaled (FFF/MMM)

    The Intermediate and Scaled team division is by qualification through the CanWest Games Online Qualifier. Those looking to compete at the CanWest Games in the Intermediate team division need to be able to lift moderate loads, complete most gymnastic movements and be able to perform most workouts “Rx’d.”

    Athletes may register for the “Intermediate/Scaled” division during the online Qualifier. Each week when the workouts are released there will be an Intermediate version and a Scaled version. Athletes will have the option to complete the “scaled” version of the workout.

  • Team of 4 (MM/FF)

    This is an Elite division with teams comprised of two men and two women. Teams must compete in the Online Qualifier in the Team of 4 Division. Team of 4 rankings are determined based on all 4 athletes’ combined scores.

    • You do not need to complete the workouts together
    • Your scores will combine to create the team score
    • You will need to designate a team captain to register your team and enter your scores
    • Video submission will be required, please ensure each team mate films their workouts

    Team of 4 Division Standards
